UNICAJA signs Uros Tripkovic
Unicaja improved its backcourt for the upcoming Turkish Airlines Euroleague Basketball season by bringing in shooting guard Uros Tripkovic, who inked an undisclosed deal with the Spanish powerhouse on Sunday. Tripkovic (197, 23) arrives from DKV Joventut, where he averaged 9.1 points on 42.9% three-pointers in 10 Eurocup games last season. Despite his age, Tripkovic has been a double-digit Euroleague scorer for several years and this will be his eighth season in the competition. He played seven Euroleague seasons total with Partizan starting with his debut in 2002, a month after his 16th birthday. He has averaged 10 or more points in Euroleague play during every season but one since becoming a fulltime player in 2004. In 2008-09, Tripkovic averaged the third-most three-pointers made among all Euroleague players. Tripkovic's heroics in that round helped Partizan reach the Quarterfinal Playoffs for the second consecutive season, quite an accomplishment for one of the youngest teams in the competition. Despite his young age, Tripkovic left Partizan as the winningest player in club history. He helped Partizan to win seven Serbian league - three of them as Serbia and Montenegro -, two Serbian Cup and three Adriatic League titles from 2004 to 2009. Tripkovic is also a regular member of the Serbian national team and helped it to win a silver medal at EuroBasket 2009.
