CAJA LABORAL inks Rancik for one month
Martin RancikCaja Laboral reached an agreement with power forward Martin Rancik to sign a one-month deal pending medical tests, the club announced Monday. Rancik (204, 32) arrives from Bizkaia Bilbao Basket, where he just finished another short-term contract. He has averaged 10 points and 3.3 rebounds in 3 Spanish League games with Bilbao this season. Rancik has also played for Estudiantes in Spain, Olympiacos in Greece and Fortitudo Bologna, Olimpia Milano and Biella in Italy. He is also a member of the Slovak national team. Rancik averaged 13.7 points, 5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 3 EuroBasket 2011 qualifying games with Slovakia this summer. He is set to play his first game with Laboral as soon as this week, as the Spanish powerhouse hosts Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in both teams' Turkish Airlines Euroleague opener on Thursday.
