Hi again, Euroleague fans. Today is not the best one to talk about our Euroleague game this week, but I want to look ahead, thinking that better moments will come soon for me and my companions. We lost our last two games, with Real Madrid at home and this week to Unicaja in Malaga, very badly. I was very disappointed on Wednesday because I scored my Euroleague career-high of 20 points, but my team lost the game. I would prefer to have celebrated a good personal performance with a great team win. I never like to lose, and for this reason I tried to take charge for my team, but we completely lost our confidence, and if the game starts to get away from us, we stop playing.
This is what our team misses so far; a big win that will ignite us and give us back the confidence we lost. We're paying now for all the troubles we had during the preseason, when many of us arrived very late to training camp because of the national teams, and others suffered injuries. We could have expected not to start so great, but that didn't happen. We won our first two Euroleague games, instead. I am excited because this season I feel we have a great group of people, first, and the perfect mix of young talents and experienced players.
So far this season, we have had to deal with a lot of injuries, which hasn't given us much of a chance to come together as a team. But despite all that, we have been able to start out positively. To stop them at home in our season debut in this competition is just a right first step. We played a very good game, but we still have a big job left ahead of us. We must still improve on the way we have started. And that improvement needs to be game by game, if we want to reach our goals.
It was not an easy task against Bamberg, but most important is that we were able to stay focused for all 40 minutes. It was a close game at halftime, but our focus let us pull away after that against a team that, unlike us, had already played five games this season - and won all fie of them in the German League. But in this...
