BC Azovmash names Kesar new head coach
Aleksandar Kesar joins Azovmash (Photo: Ural Great)BC Azovmash Mariupol found a new head coach for the coming season, as the Ukrainian powerhouse announced the arrival of Aleksandar Kesar on Thursday. Kesar, age 40, arrives from Olympiacos, where he worked as Dusan Ivkovic's assistant coach for the last two seasons. Kesar helped Olympiacos to win the Greek League and the Reds' second Turkish Airlines Euroleague titles last season. He also lifted the 2011 Greek Cup trophy with the Reds. Kesar has previous experience as head coach in BC Mega Aqua Monta Beograd of Serbia and Ural Great Perm in Russia. He also worked as Dusko Vujosevic's assistant coach in Partizan from 2004 to 2007, winning back-to-back Serbia and Montenegro League titles in 2005 and 2006, as well as lifting the Adriatic League and the Serbian League titles in 2007. Kesar has also work for Ivkovic in the Serbian national team, helping it to win a silver medal at EuroBasket 2009 and reach the 2010 FIBA World Championships semifinals.
