Aito Garcia Reneses An innovator from the moment he first headed a bench, DKV Joventut coach Aito Garcia Reneses has become so well known that even fans refer to him on a first-name basis. Whether by introducing deep player rotations to Spanish basketball or by guiding countless young talents to pro stardom, Aito's is famous for a thinking-man's style of coaching. He started at Circulo Catolico Badalona, reaching the Korac Cup semifinals in 1979, before coaching Joventut to the 1985 Spanish League finals. He soon began collecting trophies in bunches for Barcelona, where he won nine Spanish League championships, four Spanish King's Cups, two Saporta Cups and two Korac Cups in 15 seasons with the club. In his fifth season with Joventut, Aito and remains a modern master among European coaches. He has guided Joventut to the 2006 FIBA EuroCup crown and the current season's Spanish King's Cup trophy. Now, at the Final Eight in Turin, a true coaching dean who sets his players free for fans to enjoy has the chance to add a ULEB Cup title to his and his club's roll of honors.
