CSKA Moscow brings Christmas to town
Dionte Christmas (Photo: basket-nymburk.cz) CSKA Moscow added another scoring talent to its backcourt with the signing of Dionte Christmas for the remainder of the season. Christmas (1.96 meters, 26 years old) played last season for Rethymno Aegean in the Greek League. He was the league’s second-best scorer with 18.2 points per game in addition to 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals over 24 appearances. Christmas began his pro career with Hapoel Afula, with whom he was the Israeli League runner-up in scoring in 2009-10. The following season he split Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi in Turkey, CEZ Nymburk in the Czech Republic and PAOK in Greece. He played three Eurocup games as a midseason replacement for Nymburk, averaging 6.3 points in 14 minutes per game. Christmas first made a name for himself at Temple University, where he ranked fourth on its career scoring list – behind former Euroleague players David Hawkins and Lynn Greer – and finished as its all-time leading three-point shooter.
