Navarro becomes first player to 3,000 Euroleague points
Juan Carlos Navarro - FC Barcelona Regal - EB 12-13F.C. Barcelona Regal superstar Juan Carlos Navarro added another milestone to his brilliant career by becoming the first player in Euroleague history to reach 3,000 career points. After missing a game to a shoulder injury last week, Navarro came out firing and sank a pair of early three-pointers to make history. His second three, at 4:49 of the first quarter in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague game against Caja Laboral Vitoria at Fernando Buesa Arena took him exactly to the 3,000-point mark.

Navarro, 32, has played his entire 12-season Euroleague career with his hometown club, F.C. Barcelona. Already a legend of the game, “La Bomba” adds another milestone to an impressive career haul of achievements. He is the competition’s all-time leading scorer, a two-time Euroleague champion, the 2008-09 Euroleague MVP and the 2010 Euroleague Final Four MVP. All told Navarro has played in six Euroleague Final Fours and been named to the All-Euroleague First Team a record five times.

Navarro has averaged double figures in scoring in each of his Euroleague seasons. Outside of the Euroleague, Navarro has helped Barcelona to seven Spanish League titles, five Spanish King’s Cups and the 1999 Korac Cup. He is also a lynchpin for the Spanish national team, with whom he has won the 2006 World Championships and the 2009 and 2011 EuroBasket crowns. He was named tournament MVP in the latter. Additionally Navarro has collected silver medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and at EuroBasket 2003 and 2007 in addition to bronze medals at EuroBasket 2001 and 2005.
