Lukoil Academic takes Da Rosa on loan
Brazilian center Murilo Da Rosa will play for Lukoil Academic Sofia this season after the Bulgarian champion agreed to loan the player from Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv. Da Rosa (208, 24), who signed a multi-year deal with Maccabi this summer, will get his first taste of European competition in the ULEB Cup with Academic. He will also become the first Brazilian to play for the club. Da Rosa has had a busy summer, in which he played for the Brazilian national team at the Pan-American Games and the FIBA Tournament of the Americas. Da Rosa led Brazil to gold at the Pam-Am Games in Rio, averaging 15.2 points on 69% shooting and 7.4 rebounds in five games. He ranked sixth in scoring, fifth in rebounding and seventh in blocked shots (0.8 per game) at the event. He then traveled to Las Vegas for the Tournament of the Americas, where playing behind Tau Ceramica center Tiago Splitter, Da Rosa posted 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in helping his team to a fourth-place finish.
