Koln 99ers add Toby Bailey
Just a day before they start their ULEB Cup campaign, the Koln 99ers have added some much-needed backcourt help by acquiring Toby Bailey. Koln signed Bailey (195, 31) and registered him on Monday just in time to make him eligible for the team's Group B home game against Elan Chalon. Bailey has had a long and eventful career, which made headlines when he helped UCLA win the 1995 NCAA title. Bailey has played for Phoenix in the NBA, Imola in Italy and Panionios, Aris and AEK in Greece. He played with AEK in the Euroleague in 2004-05, averaging 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20 games. Bailey played for Telindus Oostende in Belgium in 2005-06. Last season he averaged 5 points and 2.2 rebounds in brief action with Oostende before leaving to play for Aoshen Olympians in China. Among his career highlights are winning the 2004 Greek Cup with Aris and capturing the 2006 Belgian league title. "Toby is a scorer and a very athletic player," Koln sports director Stephan Baeck said on the team's website. "We believe he will be a big help for the up-coming challenges."
