Aris re-hires coach Mazzon, inks Marshall

Aris has begun its preparations for the new season at full speed with the announcement that former head coach Andrea Mazzon and swingman Sean Marshall have signed with the club. Mazzon, 42, signed a two-year deal with the Thessaloniki side. Mazzon spent last season on the Fortitudo Bologna bench and returns to the club he left at the end of the 2007 season. Under his guidance, Aris advanced to the 2005-06 ULEB Cup final, where it lost to Dynamo Moscow. The club also returned to the Euroleague after a 15-year absence and qualified for the Top 16 in its debut season. This marks the coach’s third Greek adventure after coaching Panionios from 1998 to 2000. As the head coach of Glaxo Verona, Mazzon won the 1997-98 Korac Cup and led the team to the 1996-97 Saporta Cup final. He has also coached Mestre, Jezi Milano, Imola and Napoli.
Mazzon's first new signing is Marshall (198, 23), who penned a one-year deal. Marshall arrives from Turkish side Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir, where he averaged 18.8 points and 5.2 boards in 33 Turkish League games last season, his first in Europe. Before that he played college basketball at Boston College and spent the first season of his professional career (2007-08) with the, where he averaged 14.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his senior season.
