Benetton Fribourg brings in Vladimir Buscaglia
Swiss champion Benetton Fribourg Olympic has announced that swingman Vladimir Buscaglia signed a one-year contract with the club. Buscaglia (197, 27) joins Swiss national teammates Oliver Vogt and Valentin Wegmann in giving Fribourg three players on the local national team. He arrives from French second division side St. Etienne, where he averaged 8.5 points in 28 games last season. Known for his excellent shooting, Buscaglia justified that reputation by making 55.2% of his two- and 43% of his three-pointers as well as 94.7% of his free throws. Buscaglia returns to Switzerland where he last played for Sion Herens Basket two seasons ago. His career path took him to the United States as a teenager, where Buscaglia played for the University of Illinois at Chicago and American University as well as. After returning to Europe, Buscaglia suited up first for BC Boncourt, then the Geneva Devils and later with Meyrin Grand-Saconnex Basket, where he posted an incredible 17.3 points and 3.5 assists in 24 games in the 2003-04 season.
