Zach Whiting will be the new starting point guard for the Artland Dragons after inking a two-year deal with the club. Whiting (190, 24), who arrives from fellow German side Bayer Giants Leverkusen, takes over for John Goldsberry, who recently left the team to sign for Brose Baskets Bamberg. He led the German League in assists last season with 4.6 per game, while adding 7.4 points on 46.7% three-point shooting and 1.2 steals in just 25 minutes per game. It was his first season in Europe after a successful college basketball career at NCAA Division 2 school, Chaminade University, where he was selected Pac West Men’s Basketball Player of the Year as a senior after averaging 20.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game – including six triple-doubles.
