Base Oostende adds coach Vukoicic, six new players!

 Base Oostende became one of the most active teams in the 2008-09 off-season by finding a new coach in Vlada Vukoicic, as well as landing sex new players: guards Lionel Bosco, Jimmy Baxter, Ivan Paunic and Kris Sergeant, as well as forwards Mike Bauer and Slobodan Ljubotina. Bauer (203, 27) inked a three-year deal, Paunic (194, 21), Bosco (176, 26) and Ljubotina (207, 24) signed respective two-year contracts while Baxter (198, 27) and Sergeant (193, 30) will play for Oostende next season. Vukoicic arrives from Hemofarm, to which he helped to reach the Adriatic League and Serbian League finals last season. He has also coached FMP Zeleznik in his native Serbia, where he won the 2006 Adriatic League and the 2007 Serbian Cup. Bauer averaged 11.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 9 ULEB Cup games with Sluc Nancy, to which he helped to win the French League title this season. He has also played for Pau and Roanne in France, Deutsche Bank Skyliners in Germany and Amicale Steinsel in Luxembourg. Ljubotina reached the ULEB Cup Final Eight with PGE Turow last season, averaging 7.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 15 games. He has also played for Avala Ada and Spartak Subotica in his native Serbia.
 Baxter had an outstanding ULEB Cup season with Ventspils, averaging 19.2 points - fifth-best in the competition - on 48.5% three-pointers and 4.6 rebounds. He has also played for Oliveirense in Portugal, the Southern Crescent Lightning in the WBA, Dijon in France, as well as for Reggio Emilia and Edimes Pavia in Italy. Bosco comes off a good season with Spotter Leuven, averaging 9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals in 23 Belgian League games. He has also played for Atomia Brussels and Royal Union Hutoise in Belgium. Paunic arrives from Vojvodina, where he averaged 8.6 points in 25 Adriatic League games last season. He also played for Partizan and Avala Ada Beograd in Serbia, as well as for Mornar Bar in Montenegro. He helped Partizan to win the Serbia and Montenegro League in 2005. Last but not least, Sergeant averaged 10.2 points in 9 ULEB Cup games with the Antwerp Giants last season. He has also played for Spirou Charleroi, Pepinster, Okapi Aalst and Gent.
