Fortitudo nabs Qyntel Woods
A top-40 scorer from last season's Euroleague will take up the cause for Fortitudo Bologna in the Eurocup as the club announced Saturday the signing of forward Qyntel Woods to a one-plus-one-year contract. Woods (203, 27) made his European debut last season by helping Olympiacos come within a victory of the Euroleague Final Four by scoring 10.7 points in 24 minutes per game. He also pulled 4 rebounds and dished 1.2 assists on average over 22 games. Woods almost sparked the Reds to a super upset with 20 and 19 points, respectively, in their first two playoff games against CSKA, but the Moscow powerhouse rallied to win that series and the Euroleague title. Prior to arriving in Europe last season, Woods played five seasons with Portland, Miami and New York of the NBA.
