Red Star inks forward Lawrence Roberts

Red Star Belgrade continued to prepare for the upcoming season, adding power forward Lawrence Roberts to the squad on Wednesday. Roberts (26, 205) signed a one-year deal with the club and is expected to help shore up its rebounding needs in the Eurocup, Adriatic League and Serbian Superleague. Roberts started last season in Greece with Olympiacos, but was released from his contract before playing an official game. Before that he spent one season in the NBA with Memphis, taking part in 54 games and averaging 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. Roberts had a standout college basketball career at Mississippi State University. He was named the SEC conference player of the year after averaging 16.9 points and 11 rebounds as a senior and to the an NCAA All-American first team in 2004 after posting 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds as a junior.
