Fantasy Challenge, Top 16 Week 4 injury update
The highest-scoring week of
Sportingbet Fantasy Challenge
so far this season brought a new prize winner in Arale Weisberg of Israel, who was the best of only four managers whose teams scored better than 250 points in Top 16 Week 3. Arale, a well-known basketball writer in Israel, and his team "Eiderson" came in at 263 points, just 7.5 better than the second-place team, but enough that he receives the weekly prize, an official Euroleague basketball. He broke the single-week season record, that previously belonged to Reynald Martin of France with 261.2 points in regular season Week 7. Along with a new prize winner, there were dramatic first-place changes in both the Top 16 and overall full-season standings this week. The new Top 16 leader is Xabier Aramendi Alberdi of Spain, which has a three-week todal of 570.4 points. That's more than 30 points more than their second-place pursuer, so Xabier is the top contender in what should be great race the rest of the way. When the Top 16's six games are finished, this round's winner will receive a couple special prizes, a signed jersey of his or her choice of Euroleague player and Sportingbet Free Bets worth €100! Of course, after this round is when the grand prize will be awarded to the full-season overall champion, too, and in Last 16 Week 3, the leadership in that ranking did not change hands. Vaggos Fetsis of Greece stays as the overall leader with a 13-week total of 2196.4 points. He scored 186.2 points in Top 16 Week 3 to stay atop the standings. That's 21.4 points more than the next-best team with three weeks left. The amazing grand prize - a VIP trip for two to the 2010 Final Four in Paris and €500 worth of Sportingbet Free Bets - awaits the champion at the end of the contest! Get your teams ready before the Top 16 Week 4 deadline, which is 17:30 CET on Wednesday, February 24, one hour before that week's first game, Cibona vs. Olympiacos in Group H.
