Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens and beloved power forward James Gist have agreed on a new contract. The club announced that he signed a new deal until the end of the 2018-19 season. Gist (2.07 meters, 30 years old) averaged 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game last season in an injury shortened campaign. He first came to Panathinaikos in a December 2012 trade that sent Andy Panko to Unicaja Malaga. Gist has been a fan favorite everywhere he has played due to his constant hustle, high-flying dunks and thrilling blocks. After playing college basketball at the University of Maryland, Gist played for Angelico Biella in Italy and Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia before making his EuroLeague debut with Partizan Belgrade in the 2010-11 season. He also played for Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul of Turkey and Unicaja before joining Panathinaikos. He helped Partizan lift three trophies – the Serbian League, Serbian Radivoj Korac Cup and Adriatic League – in 2011 and has collected three Greek League and three Greek Cup titles with. Gist has also been a member of the USA national team and won the bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games.
