Maccabi Electra lands Mallet
Maccabi Electra announced that point guard Demond Mallet will arrive in Tel Aviv on Thursday and pending completion of a physical exam, will join the Turkish Airlines Euroleague runner-up for the remainder of the season. Mallet (1.86 meters, 33 years old) arrives to Maccabi from Spirou Charleroi, where averaged 18.9 points on 51.3% shooting from two-point range and 37.5% from long distance plus 2.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds in nine Euroleague games this season. He finished the regular season ranked third in scoring.
Mallet began his European career in Germany with Braunschweig, where he played for three seasons before moving to Brose Baskets Bamberg, which he helped to the German League championship in his first year there, 2004-05. The following season he made his Euroleague debut with Brose Basket Bamberg before moving to RheinEnergie Cologne for another Euroleague performance. His next stop was in the 2008-09 season with Joventut Badalona, with whom he celebrated the 2008 ULEB Cup and played the 2008-09 Euroleague. After one season in Turkey with Turk Telekom, Mallet joined Spirou last season and was the team’s top performer there for the last season and a half. Overall he has averaged 13.5 points in 61 career Euroleague games with four different teams.
