Madrid extends shooting star Carroll through 2020
Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion Real Madrid reached a new agreement with shooting guard Jaycee Carroll to extend his contract for one more year, until the end of the 2019-20 season, the club announced Monday. Carroll (1.88 meters, 35 years old) joined Madrid in 2011 along with current head coach Pablo Laso and has helped Los Blancos reach a new golden age, highlighted by two EuroLeague titles, in 2015 and 2018, and two runner-up finishes, in 2013 and 2014. He has also helped Madrid win four Spanish League, five Spanish Copa del Rey, and four Spanish Supercup titles in his seven seasons with the club, as well as lifting the Intercontinental Cup trophy in 2015. Carroll is the foreign player with the most appearances ever for Real Madrid. In 190 EuroLeague career games, Carroll has averaged 9.8 points with excellent shooting percentages. He ranks 12th in all-time three-point shots made (320), and none of the players in the top 30 has a better percentage (43.7%). Carroll is also 10th all-time in free throw percentage (218-of-242, 90.1%). He started his professional career with Teramo Basket of Italy and also played for Gran Canaria of Spain before joining Madrid in 2011. With this new deal, Carroll will play at least nine consecutive seasons with Los Blancos.
