Gran Canaria fires Coach Maldonado
Herbalife Gran Canaria fired head coach Salva Maldonado, the club announced on Monday. Maldonado, age 59, joined the team last summer and coached Gran Canaria to a 3-7 record in its first Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season ever. Gran Canaria has an identical 3-7 record in the Spanish League, as well. It was Maldonado's second stint with the club. He had previously coached Gran Canaria from 2005 to 2009. Gran Canaria said that assistant coach Victor Garcia would take over the team on an interim basis.
