Italian League, Game 3: October 10-11, 2007
Rimas Kaukenas - Montepaschi Siena Montepaschi Siena and Tisettanta Cantu both won on Thursday to remain the sole undefeated team in the Italian League after three weeks of action. Montepaschi got a well-balanced team effort, featuring five scorers in double figures, as it topped Premiata Montegranaro 82-70, while Cantu enjoyed 20 points and 5 assists from Denham Brown as it downed Pierrel Capo d'Orlando on the road 89-92. Upim Bologna fell from the undefeated ranks in a 73-80 loss to Legea Scafati. Hector Romero came up big down the stretch as Scafati pulled away in the final minutes to secure the win. Armani Jeans Milano fell to 1-2 on Wednesday by losing 80-84 to Siviglia Wear Teramo. In a game that saw five lead changes and four ties in the fourth quarter alone, Milano came up short in the final minute as Roger Powell and Nikoloz Tskitishvili made critical free throws for Teramo. Lottomatica Roma used a late 8-0 spurt on the way to an 80-69 victory over Eldo Napoli, while Benetton Treviso earned its first win at Cimberio Varese's expense 78-63. Dewarick Spencer led six La Fortezza Bologna scorers in double figures with 16 points as his club eased by Air Avellino 72-85. In other games, Solsonica Rieti rolled over Angelico Biella 91-67 as Morris Finley had 17 and Nate Green's double-double lifted Snaidero Udine past Scavolini Spar Pesaro 75-68.

The hosts fell behind early 4-13 and trailed 17-22 after 10 minutes, but a 26-11 second period put Montepaschi in control for good as it coasted to its third win. Rimantas Kaukenas and Tomas Ress each scored 15 off the bench, Terrell McIntyre added 13, Ben Eze had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Romain Sato had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Siena. Ricky Minard paced Montegranaro with 16. Lottomatica Roma used a late 8-0 spurt on the way to an 80-69 victory over Eldo Napoli. Filiberto Rivera's triple brought Napoli within 5 at the end of the third quarter, but Allan Ray, Jacopo Giachetti and Erazem Lorbek increased the lead to double figures early in the fourth quarter and later an 8-0 spurt made it 76-61 and sealed the victory. Jon Stefansson led Roma with 16 points off the bench, Ray added 15, Lorbek 13, Roko-Leni Ukic 12 and Giachetti finished with 10. Matteo Malaventura had 15 in defeat.

Spencer led six La Fortezza Bologna scorers in double figures with 16 points as his club eased by Air Avellino 72-85. Bologna scored the game's first 10 points, led 30-47 at halftime and coasted the rest of the way. Alan Anderson added 15 points off the bench, Roberto Chiacig and Delonte Holland had 12 each and Will Conroy and Fabio Di Bella 10 apiece for La Fortezza. Devin Smith led Air Avellino with 21. Armani Jeans Milano fell to 1-2 on Wednesday by losing 80-84 to Siviglia Wear Teramo. Tucker Clay led Teramo with 24 points, while Tskitishvili added 17 and Powell 15. Ansu Sesay stepped up with 19 points and 13 rebounds for Milano, Vukcevic added 14 and Gaines scored 10.

Upim Bologna fell from the undefeated ranks in a 73-80 loss to Legea Scafati. Daniele Cavalier's triple midway through the fourth quarter gave Upim a 62-61 lead, but Scafati took over at that point. The visitors used Romero's three-pointer and four free throws from Dimitri Lauwers as parts of a 2-11 spurt to take control for good. Horace Jenkins and Stefano Mancinelli kept Upim in the picture, but Romero and Luigi Datome made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Lauwers led Scafati with 22 points, while Romero added 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jenkins led Upim with 20, James Thomas had 12 points and 22 rebounds, Mancinelli scored 12 and Cavalier 10. Benetton Treviso earned its first win at Cimberio Varese's expense 78-63. The hosts overran their opponents 29-14 in the first 10 minutes to set the tone as they cruised to an easy win. DerMarr Johnson led Benetton with 19 points, Lionel Chalmers had 16 and 5 assists, Matteo Soragna scored 15 and Pops Mensah-Bonsu had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marco Passera led Varese with 16.
