Dynamo falls in first round

Hemofarm Stada got the Final Eight started with a bang and major upset by downing Dynamo Moscow 85-93 in the first Quarterfinals game at Palasport Olimpico in Turin, Italy, on Thursday night. Hemofarm advanced to the semifinals for the third time in competition history and knocked out Dynamo for the second time. Bojan Krstovic led a well-balanced Hemofarm attack with 16 points, while Stefan Markovic delivers 10 assists. All told Hemofarm had five scorers in double figures and three more with at least 7 points. After a close opening quarter, three-pointers by Nebojsa Joksimovic, Milivoje Bozovic and Miljan Pavkovic helped Hemofarm take a 27-36 lead. Travis Hansen and Darjus Lavrinovic brought Dynamo within 41-45 at halftime. Dynamo managed to tie the game at 51-51, but Milan Macvan led a 2-13 run as Hemofarm built a 60-70 lead after 30 minutes. A big basket by Macvan gave Hemofarm its biggest lead, 60-72. Robertas Javtokas, Bostjan Nachbar and Hansen led Dynamo's comeback in the fourth quarter and a triple by Brian Chase got his team within 79-81, but a clutch three by Pavkovic and a layup-plus-foul by Krstovic sealed the outcome down the stretch. Joksimovic added 15 points off the bench for the winners, Pavkovic and Boban Marjanovic scored 12 each and Marton Bader 10. Hansena nd Chase scored 19 apiece to pace Dynamo, Nachbar had 15 and Javtokas and Sergey Bykov 12 each. READ MORE
