Benetton Basket star: Sandro Nicevic
|
One of the most consistent big men in European basketball, veteran Benetton Treviso center Sandro Nicevic, may be one of the most underrated, too. Nicevic has excelled as a scorer and all-around contributor in six different countries. He is now making his second consecutive Final Eight appearance after starring in the pivot for Besiktas Cola Turka last season. For his first Eurocup game this season with Benetton, Nicevic showed he meant business by torching his old team, Besiktas, with a huge stat line that earned him Week 1 MVP honors. He has not slowed down since then, either. Nicevic is the complete package in the low post: a scorer and passer on offense, a shot-blocker and rebounder on defense. That versatility helped him rank third among all Eurocup players in performance index rating for the season. His track record as a trophy winner in Spain, Croatia and France, not to mention his five Euroleague seasons’ worth of experience, make Nicevic as valuable in the Benetton locker room as on the playing floor. A first chance to compete for a continental crown at age 32 makes Nicevic one of the key players to watch at the Final Eight in Turin.
