Iurbentia Bilbao head coach: Txus Vidorreta
Txus Vidorreta - Iurbentia BilbaoFew people outside of Spain knew anything about iurbentia Bilbao Basket head coach Txus Vidorreta before this season started. Anonymity will no longer be a problem for Vidorreta after he guided Bilbao to the Final Eight in the team's European competition debut while matching the best overall record in the Eurocup. Vidorreta is an institution at Bilbao Basket, having led the club all the way to the Final Eight from the Spanish third in just eight seasons. Vidorreta started his career at Caja Bilbao, reaching the first division in 1994, although the club could not take advantage of the opportunity for financial reasons, Vidorreta went on to coach lower-division teams until opportunity called him home again in 2000, when Bilbao Basket was founded. Over the next four years, by winning both the third and second divisions, Bilbao earned its way into the Spanish League. There, too, Vidorreta was the driving force behind Bilbao's next set of big accomplishments, last season's trips to the Spanish King's Cup semifinals and the Spanish League playoffs. His philosophy, to make every player important to the team's success, has been flawlessly applied by Vidorreta in order lift Bilbao Basket beyond all expectations, to the very doorstep of a continental trophy, the Eurocup.
