Busy Aris brings in Nelson, Argyropoulos
Spencer Nelson - Fortitudo Aris Thessaloniki was busy revamping its roster over the weekend with the signings of forward Spencer Nelson and guard Nikos Argyropoulos. Nelson (203, 28) arrives from Fortitudo Bologna, while Argyropoulos (188,30 )has spent the last two seasons at Panellinios. Nelson has become a top player in Italy in recent seasons, starring for Benetton Treviso before moving to Bologna. He made his professional debut with Bamberg in Germany in the 2005-06 season, during which he entered the history books with a 20-20 game – 23 points and 20 rebounds – against Benetton. He was third in the Euroleague Basketball regular season in offensive rebounding (2.93 orpg.) and fourth in overall rebounding (9 rpg.) that season. The next year in Treviso, Nelson helped Benetton win the Italian Cup, earning MVP honors in the final game. Injuries slowed him down last season, as Nelson took part in only one ULEB Cup and seven Italian League game with Fortitudo. Now back to full speed, Nelson is looking to make an impact with Aris.

Argyropoulos signed a a two-year contract to play point guard for Aris. He grew up with Apollon Patras and also played for Apolloniada Patras before moving to Athens, to play first for Olympiacos (2005-06) and then for Panellinios. During the 2005-06 season he took part in three Euroleague games. Lat season with Panellinios, Argyropoulos averaged 6.7 points and 1.6 assists in the ULEB Cup and 6.8 points and 2.2 assists in the Greek League.
