Red Star signs guard Marko Marinovic

A day after Svetislav Pesic was named new head coach, Red Star Belgrade agreed
terms with guard Marko Marinovic. The point guard signed a one-year deal with the team, reuniting Marinovic (25, 183) with coach Pesic. The two helped Girona win the FIBA Cup two seasons ago. Marinovic spent last season in Spain with ViveMenorca where he averaged 11.1 points and 2.4 assists in 24 ACB League games. He grew
up at Borac Cacak where he played from 2001 to 2004. Later he moved to FMP and played in the ULEB Cup and won Serbia & Montenegro Cup in 2005. He averaged 11.8 points, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals in 11 ULEB Cup appearances that season, his only in the competition to date. Marinovic was a member of the Serbia & Montenegro national team that won gold at the World University Games in 2003. Red Star will begin the season in the second round of Eurocup qualifications.
