A champ lands in capital city after Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem announced the signing of guard Moran Rot (178, 26) for the upcoming two seasons. Rot arrives to Hapoel after a magical campaign with Hapoel Holon where he was a key part in the historical championship title the past season. The national team guard averaged 8.1 points and was one of the best passers in the league with 4.6 assists in addition to 1.8 steals in a tour that will go down in history books of Israeli basketball. "I wanted to be a Hapoel player from the first moment we started this long negotiation," Rot said to the official website of Hapoel. "I'm happy everything worked out and to be part of a club with tradition and great fans that give so much for their team. I'm already looking forward to the first home game in front of those fans."
Rot, who grew up in the juniors of Maccabi Tel Aviv, is a late bloomer. He started his senior career in the third division and later moved to Maccabi Ashdod and Elitzur Ramla in the second league. In 2004-05 he got his first big chance with Ramat HaSharon/Haifa and was voted as the best newcomer to the league. The following season he played in Rishon LeZion under Hapoel's current coach - Guy Goodes, but after another good season didn't choose right. In 2006-07 he signed with Galil Elyon but things didn't work out there and in mid season he moved to Ironi Ramat Gan, where he finished the season before moving to Holon.
