Qualifying Round F, Game 2 preview: BASE BC Oostende - Le Havre
Base BC Oostende is in the driver's seat to reach the Eurocup regular season with a 1-point lead heading into its home return leg against Le Havre in the second qualifying round. Head coach Sharan Drucker's Oostende won the first leg on the road 85-84 with guard Devin Green leading the way with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. But he was not alone as center Matt Haryasz scored 15 points, guard Rashid Atkins had 14 and guard Ivan Paunic added 12 points. Also, big man Nick Fazekas scored all 9 of his points in the fourth quarter and collected 8 rebounds in the winning effort. Drucker's team also hit 52% from the field. If Drucker can get a repeat showing of the first leg, Oostende will be making plans for the regular season. Le Havre made just 9 of 25 (36%) of its three-pointers and just 13 of 20 (65%) from the free-throw line in dropping the first leg at home. Forward Bingo Merriex did all he could with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard T.J. Thompson had 19 points and 4 assists. Aleksandar Bojic added 12 points and Slaven Simac had 10, but the rest of the team contributed only 19 points. A bigger boost from the bench would be key for Jean Manuel Sousa's team.
