Tuesday of Last 16, Week 2 rewarded Eurocup fans with soaring point totals, overtime, road rallies and a last-second game-winners. When the dust settled, four teams were exclusive group leaders a third of the way through the round. Two of those posted impressive blowouts:
Crvena Zvezda rolled 97-67 over Gran Canaria as Nemanja Bjelica scored 22 points and Mike Taylor 21 to go 2-0 in Group L; the same record belongs to Group J leader
Hapoel Jerusalem, which blasted Galatasaray Cafe Crown 100-87 as Yogev Ohayon was everywhere, scoring 18 points, dishing 8 assists and making 6 steals. Meanwhile, in a head-to-head showdown for first place in Group I,
Alba stopped Joventut 72-68 as Blagota Sekulic scored 19 points. And in Group K, still undefeated
Bilbao rolled Panellinios 81-61 as Janis Blums scored 17 and Jerome Moiso 16. Elsewhere, three road teams with a sense of urgency rallied for their first Last 16 victories: in Group J,
Power Electronics Valencia outlasted Unics Kazan 68-72 behind 22 points from Rafa Martinez. Likewise, in Group L,
CEZ Nymburk downed Turk Telekom 92-97 in OT behind Phil Ricci's 24 points. And in Group I,
Le Mans survived 71-72 at Aris on Antoine Diot's game-winning shot after Zach Wright scored 15 for the visitors. One home team got its first victory, too, in Group K, where
Brose Baskets beat Benetton 73-63 as Predrag Suput poured in 22 points. After two weeks of the Last 16, the results can be looked at in a couple ways. Three teams out of five that were 2-0 last season survived the round, while two did not. Meanwhile, a pair ot 0-2 teams reached the quarterfinals, and one the title game. So stay tuned for Week 3 action on Tuesday, February 9!
