2008-09 Last 16
The brand-new Last 16 phase delivered tremendous excitement to the 2008-09 Eurocup as three-quarters of the Top 16 spots weren’t decided until the last two weeks. The fact that no team finished the phase winless says it all about how competitive it was. Benetton Basket Tamoil and Dynamo Moscow were undefeated after four weeks and the first teams to clinch a Final Eight spot. Dynamo would go on to become the only undefeated team in the stage. Pamesa Valencia, Lietuvos Rytas, iurbentia Bilbao Basket, Zadar and BC Khimki Moscow region all reached the Final Eight in Week 5. Hemofarm Stada was the last team to qualify for Turin, Italy, in Week 6, while Bilbao, Benetton and Pamesa joined Dynamo as group champions. The quarterfinal matchups became Bilbao vs. Zadar, Pamesa vs. Khimki, Dynamo vs. Hemofarm and Benetton vs. L. Rytas.
