|
Several days after he won a silver medal at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland as an assistant coach on the Serbian national team, Aco Petrovic signed to become Crvena Zvezda's newest head coach. Petrovic, 49, arrives from Unics Kazan, whom he led to the Russian Cup title and the Russian League semifinals last season. He also guided Kazan to the 2008 ULEB Cup Final Eight. He has previously coached Lokomotiv Rostov in Russia and FMP in Serbia, leading the latter to the ULEB Cup quarterfinals in 2004. Petrovic was also the assistant coach for the Serbian national team in 2002, when it won the gold medal at the World Championships in Indianapolis, USA. In returning to Crvena Zvezda, he joins the club where he started his coaching career as an assistant in 1997.
