ASVEL Villeurbanne cemented the status of the centerpiece it wanted for its ambitious plans for the seasons to come by extending the contract of forward Charles Kahudi for another four years, the club announced on Thursday. Kahudi (1.99 meters, 31 years old) was already under contract with ASVEL for next season and now the sides will be connected through the 2021-22 season. Kahudi has been with ASVEL for the past two seasons and was a key piece in team’s run to the French League title in 2016, but missed a large part of this past campaign before returning late in the season to post 12.1 points and 3.5 rebounds on the way to the French League playoff semifinals. Kahudi has spent his entire career in France, where he has played for Cholet Basket, Evreux, JDA Dijon and Le Mans Sarthe. Kahudi has five EuroCup seasons under his belt, with career averages of 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, and now returns to the competition for the first time since 2013. He was also a long-time member of the French national team, with which he won a gold medal at EuroBasket 2013, silver at EuroBasket 2011, and bronze medals at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and EuroBasket 2015.
