For its third 7DAYS EuroCup campaign last season, Dolomiti Energia Trento brought back star big man Davide Pascolo and kept players like Diego Flaccadori, Dustin Hogue and Beto Gomes. Despite the high hopes, it failed to match its lofty expectations. Trento opened the EuroCup season with an 82-73 home win against Partizan NIS Belgrade behind 15 points from Nikola Radicevic, but went on to lose its next five games. The team bounced back with wins against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and Zenit St Petersburg, in which it rallied from 16 points down in the final 4 minutes of regulation for an overtime victory, however, it was not enough to get out of a very difficult regular season group. In domestic competitions, Trento did not qualify to the Italian Cup tournament, but improved in the second part of the season to place sixth at the end of the regular season with a 17-13 record. Trento rallied from a 2-0 deficit in its quarterfinals series to force a do-or-die Game 5, but Umana Reyer Venice prevailed in front of its fans. Trento knows what it takes to do well in the EuroCup and will use that experience to be more competitive than ever in the 2019-20 season.

Aquila Basket Trento was founded in 1995 and the initiative of Gianni Brusinelli and Marco Angelini slowly gained momentum. The club began in the seventh tier of Italian basketball and the arrival of Giovanni Zobele - who would stay with the team for 13 years - as team president brought its first promotion to a higher level. But that was only the start of things to come. Over the next five seasons, the club climbed two more tiers and in the 2004-05 season,Aquila Basket won a lower league double by winning the fifth division championship and downing Navarra Ferentino 77-68 to lift the Italian Cup for amateur teams. Trento's appetite grew as it came close to promotion again before it acquired Lumezzane Basket's license to get into the Italian third division in 2009. By 2011-12, Aquila Basket was already on top of the third division; Coach Maurizio Buscaglia's team downed Chieti 3-1 to lift the crown. Trento had immediate success in the second-best Italian level and lifted the Second Division Cup by downing Pistoia in the final 84-76. The team also reached the playoff semifinals. By the next season, Trento went all the way by winning the regular season and storming through the playoffs against Agrigento, Turin and Capo d'Orlando to earn promotion into the Italian League first division. Trento played its first elite level season in 2014-15 and finished fourth in the Italian League regular season led by league MVP Tony Mitchell. Trento was ousted in the playoff quarterfinals by eventual champion Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari, but earned a spot to play the 2015-16 EuroCup. Behind Coach Buscaglia and forwards Julian Wright and Davide Pascolo, Trento went on a historic run to the semifinals against all odds. Back home, Trento also made it to the Italian Cup semifinals. In 2017-18, Trento reached the EuroCup Top 16 and the Italian League finals. Last season, Trento did not go past the EuroCup regular season and lost in the Italian League quarterfinals to Umana Reyer Venice. As successful as Trento has been in recent years, it is eager to finally capture a trophy.
