MoraBanc Andorra will host AS Monaco in the teams' season opener for the second consecutive year. The two teams, each from a small principality, know each other well having met a total of four times over the past two EuroCup campaigns. The home team has won each game to date. J.J. O'Brien scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead five Monaco scorers in double figures in an 82-66 Round 1 victory. Clevin Hannah paced Andorra with 16 points and 4 assists in a 96-68 rout in the Round 6 return leg.
Both teams have strong backcourts that were upgraded over the summer. However, despite the new weapons, Andorra's Clevin Hannah and Monaco's Dee Bost remain their teams' trusted floor generals. They both are charged with putting their teammates in a position to do damage while taking advantage of whatever opportunities the defense presents for them, too. That said, neither Hannah nor Bost will allow their opponent much freedom in this intense matchup of veteran playmakers.
Keys to victory: MoraBanc Andorra
Andorra has a classic inside-outside game with reliable scorers Malik Dime and Babatunde Olumuyiwa inside and marksmen Jeremy Senglin and Haukur Palsson on the perimeter. Keeping the ball moving and as a result, keeping the Monaco defense off-balance is one of the keys to Andorra racking up the points.
Keys to victory: AS Monaco
Monaco boasts a physical lineup that should be one of the better offensive rebounding sides in the competition. If it can turn those second-chance opportunities into extra points while keeping turnovers to a minimum, Coach Zvezdan Mitrovic's side could put itself in a position to score a big road win.
