Cholet Basket releases Ubiles, signs Souchu
Oct 16, 2012
Cholet Basket announced Tuesday that it has released injured forward Edwin Ubiles and signed Karim Souchu. Ubiles and the team mutually agreed to dissolve his contract due to the player’s wish to rehabilitate his injured foot at home in the United States. The veteran Souchu (2.00 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Le Havre, where he averaged 9.1 points and 3 rebounds last season. He already debuted for Chalon and scored 20 points on 4-of-8 three-point shooting in the French League over the weekend. Souchu will appear in the Eurocup this season for the first time since the 2008-09 season, when he represented Chorale Roanne. He has also played for Begian club Liege Basket in the Eurocup and for Asvel Basket in the Euroleague. During Souchu’s lengthy career, he has played in Cyprus with AEL Limassol, in Belgium with Liege and in France for Dijon, Asvel, Roanne, Limoges and Le Havre.
