Last 32 Round 5 MVP: Vladimir Golubovic, Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler

Round 5 of the Last 32 saw some more teams advance to the Eurocup eighthfinals. One of them was Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler of Turkey who, aside from advancing, also won Group J thanks to a 104-75 home win over Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari. One player was on top of everything as Vladimir Golubovic also earned weekly MVP honors, for the second time this season, thanks to an outstanding index rating of 51, the highest among winning players this week and also the highest overall this season, crushing the 46 mark that Esteban Batista of Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir had just set in Round 4 of the Last 32. Golubovic soared in the game with 28 points - 12 of 15 for two points -, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 7 drawn fouls. Batista himself was second in line this week with an also great index rating performance of 43 thanks to his 29 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Yet another player racked up more than 40 points, 41 in fact, as Dijon Thompson led Nizhny Novgorod with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists.

Batista and Michael Jenkins of FoxTown Cantu were the scoring leaders of the week with their 29 points each, and Golubovic was right behind them with his 28. Golubovic also dominated the rebounds with his total 17 - 11 defensive, 6 offensive - that helped him get a huge double-double. Four more players followed him with 11 boards apiece this week. Marko Marinovic of Radnicki Kragujevac also had a great night on the court as he dished as many as 13 assists, and Bobby Dixon of Pinar Karsiyaka was not far behind wither with his 11 decisive passes. In defense, four players had as many steals, 4: Bojan Dubljevic of Valencia Basket, Uri Kokia of Maccabi Haifa Bazan, Reggie Redding of ALBA Berlin and Omar Thomas of Dinamo Sassari. Finally, also three players delivered 3 blocks each: Jusuf Nurkic of Cedevita Zagreb, Adrian Uter of Cantu and Ian Vougioukas of Unics Kazan.
