Union Olimpija Ljubljana added experienced playmaker to its backcourt, signing point guard Marko Marinovic to a one-year deal. Marinovic (1.83 meters, 31 years old) led the Eurocup last season while playing for Radnicki Kragujevac, dishing and average of 8.6 assists - in addition to 12.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals - in 16 games he played. He enters the season with 64 games played in the competition, and ranked second all-time with 277 career assist, trailing only his Serbian countryman Stefan Markovic in that category. He also averaged 13.3 points, 7.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds in the Adriatic League last season, and he helped Radnicki to the Serbian League semifinals posting 12.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game.

Marinovic won the 2009-10 Eurocup title with Valencia Basket, averaging 6.9 points in 15 games and playing a key role off the bench. Marinovic has played the Eurocup with five different teams - FMP Zeleznik, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and Radnicki Kragujevac of Serbia, Valencia Basket of Spain and Alba Berlin of Germany. He has also played for Borac Cacak in Serbia, Akasvayu Girona and Menorca in Spain, Enisey Krasnoyarsk and Krasnie Krilya Samara in Russia, and Levski Sofia in Bulgaria. Marinovic helped FMP to win the Serbian Cup in 2005 and the Adriatic League in 2006, as well as lifting the FIBA Eurocup trophy with Girona in 2007. He has also been a member of the Serbia and Montenegro national team.
