Union Olimpija Ljubljana signed an open-contract with Slovenian center Mirza Begic, who returns to the club where he already played in the 2002-03 season, and from 2007 until 2009. Begic (2.16 meters, 29 years) is a veteran of 8 Turkish Airlines Euroleague seasons who is set to make his Eurocup debut this season. He played with Olympiacos Piraeus last season, where he averaged 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks, coming mostly off the bench, in 12 Euroleague games. During his career, Begic has also played for Real Madrid in Spain, Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, Union Olimpija Ljubljana, Geoplin Slovan Ljubljana and Triglav Kranj in Slovenia, Virtus Bologna in Italy, KK Zadar in Croatia and Huy Basket in Belgium. Begic helped Olimpija win consecutive Slovenian league and cup titles in 2008 and 2009, as well as lifting the Baltic League trophy with Zalgiris in 2010. In his three seasons with Real Madrid, he helped the team reach the Euroleague Final Four in 2011 and 2012, and win the Spanish double crown – League and Cup – in 2012.
