Besiktas adds Preston Shumpert and Sandro Nicevic

Preston Shumpert Besiktas ColaTurka continues to rebuild for the upcoming season by bringing in a pair of seasoned Euroleague veterans in Preston Shumpert and Sandro Nicevic. Shumpert (198, 26) is a swingman who arrives from Benetton Treviso. He started last season with Fortitudo Bologna and moved during the season to Benetton, where he played in the Top 16. Shumpert finished the year with an average of 11.4 points on 40.8% shooting from beyond the arc and 1.9 assists in 14 games. Shumpert rose to stardom at Syracuse University, where he averaged 19.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his senior season. Since then he's become a standout player in Europe, first in France with BC Besancon and since in Italy with SC Montecatini, Livorno, AJ Milano, Fortitudo Bologna and Benetton.

Nicevic (210, 31) arrives from LeMans in France, where he posted 11.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 26 minutes per game 14 Euroleague appearances last season. The center has been one of the most consistent big men in the Euroleague in recent seasons, playing in a total of 55 Euroleague games with five different teams since 2000. Nicevic began his career with BC Gradine Pula in his native Croatia and his since suited up for Cibona Zagreb, Franck, BC Benston Zagreb, Olimpija Ljubljana, Le Mans, AEK Athens and Unicaja Malaga. Among his career highlights are winning the Croatian championship with Cibona four times and the Spanish crown with Unicaja. He also captured two Croatian Cups and one French Cup.
