Fortitudo tabs Marcelinho Huertas

Marcelinho Huertas Fortitudo Bologna has reached an agreement with Marcelinho Huertas, who inked a two-year deal with his new team, with an option to extend until the end of the 2010-11 season. Huertas (191, 25) had an outstanding season at Bilbao Basket, averaging 14.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 34 Spanish League (ACB) games last season. Not only Huertas helped Bilbao to reach the Spanish King's Cup semifinals, the Spanish Supercup title and the ACB playoffs, but he earned all-ACB first team honours. Huertas played for Joventut from 2004 to 2007. He averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 assists in 20 Euroleague games in the 2006-07 season. Huertas helped Joventut to win the FIBA Eurocup title in 2006. He has also played for Pinheiros and Paulistano in his native Brazil, where Huertas is a regular member of its national team.
