Umana Venice, coach Recalcati stay togther
A veteran coach is set to return to the Eurocup next season, as Umana Reyer Venice announced that head coach Carlo Recalcati will stay with the team for another year. Recalcati, age 69, helped Venice reach the Italian League semifinals last season. He has been an elite coach for the last three decades and over 1,200 games between domestic and European club competitions. He helped Montepaschi Siena reach the Euroleague Final Four in 2004, winning the Italian League title that season. Recalcati also won Italian League titles with Pallacanestro Varese in 1999 and Fortitudo Bologna in 2000. He has also coached Pallacanestro Cantu, Reggio Calabria, Bergamo and Sutor Montegranaro. Recalcati also worked for the Italian national team, leading it to a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2003 and a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. He helped Fortitudo reach the Euroleague semifinals in 2001. Recalcati also had a long, sucessful career as a player, helping Cantu win two Italian League, an Intercontinental Cup, three Saporta Cup, three Korac Cup titles in the late 1960s and the 1970s.
