One of the most promising forwards in European basketball switched Eurocup teams on Tuesday, when Zenit St. Petersburg announced the arrival of Janis Timma, who arrives from VEF Riga. Timma (2.01 meters, 21 years old) averaged 12.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 9 Eurocup games last season. He started his career with Daugavpils Kraslava and has played for several other Latvian teams, such as Hansabanka, BA Riga, Keizarmezs Riga, Barons Riga, Liepajas Lauvas and Ventspils. Timma helped VEF win the Latvian League title last season. He also helped Ventspils win a Baltic League title in 2013 and lift the Latvian League trophy in 2014. Timma is also a member of the Latvian national team. He helped Latvia win a bronze medal at the 2010 U18 European Championships.
