One of the best Italian prospects is set to make his Eurocup debut next season, as Umana Reyer Venice announced the arrival of shooting guard Stefano Tonut, who penned a four-year deal with his new team on Wednesday. Tonut (1.94 meters, 21 years old) arrives from Pallacanestro Trieste, where he averaged 18.8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals in 37 Italian second division games last season, being the competition's fourth-best scorer. Tonut started his career with Falconstar Monfalcone and joined Trieste in 2012. He helped the Italian U20 national team to win a gold medal at the 2013 European Championships played in Tallinn, Estonia. His father, Alberto Tonut, had a long career and helped the Italian national team win a gold medal at EuroBasket 1983.
