Valencia lands former All-Euroleague swingman San Emeterio
Three-time Eurocup champions Valencia Basket added experience and character to its roster by inking small forward Fernando San Emeterio to a two-year deal on Wednesday. San Emeterio (1.99 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Laboral Kutxa Vitoria, where he has played for each of the last 8 Turkish Airlines Euroleague seasons. He averaged 10.3 points and 3 rebounds in 24 Euroleague games last season. San Emeterio accumulates 1,396 points and 163 three-point shots made in 143 Euroleague career games. He also played the 2007-08 ULEB Cup with Akasvayu Girona, helping it reach the final and averaging 7.7 points in 17 games. San Emeterio was chosen to the 2010-11 All-Euroleague first team, averaging 13.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 20 games that season, and earned weekly MVP honors five teams during his Euroleague career. He helped Laboral win the Copa del Rey title in 2009 and led his former team to the Spanish League crown in 2010 with a go-ahead three-point play to make Baskonia lift the trophy in front of its fans. San Emeterio also won the FIBA Eurocup title with Girona in 2007. He has been a member of the Spanish national team, helping it win the EuroBasket 2011 title, get a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2013 and reach the 2012 Olympic Games final in London, England.
