Zenit St. Petersburg made a big addition to its perimeter by signing veteran sharpshooter Ryan Toolson to a one-plus-one year contract, club announced Friday night. Toolson (1.93 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Unicaja Malaga where he averaged 10.9 points and 2.5 assists off the bench last season. In Spanish League matches Toolson posted 11.9 points on 50% three-point accuracy, and dished 2.1 assists per night. Toolson spent the past two seasons with Malaga, and previously has played professionally for Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir and Aliaga Petkim in Turkey, Benetton Treviso and Montegranaro in Italy, as well as Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas in Spain. Toolson’s only previous Eurocup season was with Benetton in 2010-11, and in 11 games he averaged 5.5 points on 40% three-point shooting.
