Umana Reyer Venice reached a new agreement with experienced big man Benjamin Ortner to keep working together next season, the club announced Tuesday. Ortner (2.06 meters, 32 years old) averaged 7.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 40 Italian League games last season, helping the club reach the semifinals. He has also played for Reggio Emilia, Snaidero Udine, Pallacanestro Cantu, Benetton Treviso and Montepaschi Siena of Italy, as well as for LTi Giessen 46ers of Germany. He helped Siena win the Italian League title in 2013. Ortner is a well-rounded Eurocup veteran - he already played the competition with Reggio Emilia, Cantu, Benetton and Siena, accumulating 203 points and 106 rebounds in 30 games. Ortner has also been a member of the Austrian national team. "I am very happy to be part of this team next season. I think that last season was the beginning of a journey and we can still grow as a team," Ortner said. "We will be in a hard Eurocup regular season group, with very strong team, and that is why it will be a good test and an opportunity for us to show what we can do."
