Gran Canaria adds two-time champion Aguilar

Eurocup runner-up Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas introduced formally introduced two-time champion forward Pablo Aguilar as its newest player over the weekend. Aguilar (2.03 meters, 26 years old) agreed to terms with Gran Canaria earlier in the month, but the contract only went into effect last week. He arrives from Valencia Basket where he played the past two years and lifted the 2014 Eurocup title, which was his second in the competition after winning the ULEB Cup with Real Madrid in 2007. Last season, Aguilar averaged 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in Eurocup action with Valencia, and 3.7 points plus 2.3 rebounds during Valencia’s campaign in the Euroleague regular season. Aguilar grew up with Real Madrid and has made Eurocup debut with the club in 2006-07 season, and his Euroleague debut a year later. During his career he also spent two seasons with Granada and three with CAI Zaragoza.

"I chose to sign with Herbalife Gran Canaria because I liked the project; I want the club to help me develop and I want to grow with them," Aguilar said. "Everyone has spoken highly of everything around the club and the island. I want to try to help meet the club’s goals for this season and give my best to keep growing along with them."
