SLUC Nancy Basket strengthened its roster weeks ahead of the 2015-16 Eurocup regular season by inking combo guard Derek Raivio and forward James Bell to respective one-year deals on Friday. Raivio (1.90 meters, 30 years old) arrives from CEZ Basketball Nymburk, where he averaged 6.2 points on 44% three-point shooting in 14 Eurocup games last season. He started his professional career with Koeln 99ers of Germany and also played for TBB Trier, Rie Bay and Fort Wayne of the D-League, Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano of Japan and Generali Okapi Aalstar of Belgium. Raivio is an accomplished free throw shooting, going over 90% on average several seasons in his career. He helped Nymburk win the Czech League title last season. Bell (1.98 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Vanoli Cremona, where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in 30 Italian League games last season, his first as a professional basketball player after a four-year college career at Villanova University (NCAA). Bell has been a member of the USA U19 national team.
