Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd strengthened its roster by inking big man R.T. Guinn and playmaker D.J. Cooper this weekend. Guinn (2.08 meters, 34 years old) arrives from Torku Konyaspor, where he averaged 10.5 points on 49.3% three-point shooting and 4.1 rebounds in 30 Turkish League games last season. He has also played for Stelmet Zielona Gora of Poland, Maccabi Ashdod of Israel, Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye, Budivelnyk Kiev, Azovmash Mariupol and Poltava Basket of Ukraine, Limoges CSP of France, Darussafaka Istanbul of Turkey, Eisbaeren Bremenhaven of Germany, Panathinaikos Athens of Greece Sodertalje Kings of Sweden, Kansas and Cedar Rapids of the USBL and Salon Vilpas Vikings of Finland. He helped Panathinaikos win the Greek League title in 2013 and also lifted the Ukrainian Cup trophy twice - with Azovmash in 2009 and with Ferro in 2013.
Cooper (1.83 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Enisey Krasnoyarsk. He led the VTB League in assists (9.1 apg.) and steals (2 spg.) last season, also averaging 11.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in 29 games. Cooper shined in the 2013-14 Eurocup. In his first season as a professional player, Cooper averaged 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.1 steals in 10 games. He finished last season with Panathinaikos, helping it reach the Greek League finals.
