AEK Athens added a new playmaker to its backcourt by signing Nikola Ivanovic on a deal that will keep him in the Greek capital until 2019, the club announced Tuesday. Ivanovic (1.90 meters, 22 years old) arrives from Mega Leks of Serbia where he had a career-best season. He was first chosen as the Serbian Cup MVP by leading Mega to a historic first-ever title. Ivanovic also averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds, helping the club reach the Adriatic League playoffs finals for the first time, too. He also helped Mega finished third in the Serbian league, and raised his performances when it mattered most - in the playoffs - posting 14.8 points and 7.8 assists. Ivanovic started his career in his native Montenegro with Mornar Bar and played four seasons with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica before joining Mega Leks. Despite being onlt 22, he already has four full Eurocup campaigns under his belt, all with Buducnost. Ivanovic made his Eurocup debut at age 17 and averaged 5.7 points and 1.8 assists in 45 career games in the competition. He is also a regular member of the Montenegrin national team.
